Cardi B Shows Off Pink Barbie Rolex Daytona Bought for $2.85 Million
Cardi B has added a rare pink watch to her collection, and she showed it off on Instagram on Oct. 22. The rapper posted a picture of a pink Barbie Rolex Daytona, a luxury watch that the jeweler Mavani estimates only about 10 were made worldwide. Mavani has posted wire transfers from Cardi B totalling $2,850,000 in US dollars for the watch.
Cardi B called the watch "a gift from me to me." She turned 34 on Oct. 11, and the purchase was pitched as her birthday present to herself. The Daytona is a chronograph, a watch with a stopwatch function, and this one has a bezel, the ring around the face, set with pink sapphires.
According to Cardi B, Mavani searched around the world to find the watch. She said it was made entirely at the factory, with no aftermarket parts, and that Rolex authenticated it. Mavani told the outlet that Cardi B's was the only one of the roughly 10 pink Barbie Rolex Daytonas that was for sale.
The watch is not the only new piece. Billboard reported that Cardi B also bought a pink Hermès Mini Kelly handbag to match the watch. The Mini Kelly is one of the brand's smallest versions of its classic structured bag. She also commissioned a custom ring set with 7 carats of natural diamonds from Pristine Jewelers. A carat is a unit of weight for gemstones, and 7 carats is the combined weight of the diamonds in that ring.
Cardi B has not said whether she plans to wear the watch in public or in her music videos.
