Fallout Shelter: The Experiment Gets a January 2027 Premiere on Prime Video

Prime Video has set January 13, 2027, as the premiere date for Fallout Shelter: The Experiment, a reality competition show based on the Fallout video game series. The date was announced on Fallout Day, the annual celebration of the franchise, on October 23, 2026.

The show is unscripted, meaning it follows real people rather than actors reading a script. Deadline reports that the first four episodes will drop on January 13. Further episodes will arrive weekly through January 27, 2027.

Amazon's own announcement describes it as a new competition that invites everyday participants to test their aptitude. The contestants compete for a prize of $1,000,000, according to Deadline. Earlier, Amazon said the series would run to 10 episodes in total. Variety has described the show as drawing on the games' signature dark humour.

The series is produced by Studio Lambert with Kilter Films, in association with Bethesda Game Studios, the team behind the Fallout games. Prime Video is the only place to watch it. Deadline reports that it will be available exclusively on the service in more than 240 countries and territories.

Prime Video also released a short teaser trailer to mark the date. The official title was confirmed in the same announcement, so fans now have a name and a day to put in their calendars.

For viewers, the schedule is simple. The first episodes arrive on a Wednesday in mid-January, and the rest follow one week at a time. A weekly drop gives each episode its own moment on the calendar, rather than asking viewers to binge the whole run at once.

Fallout fans have waited a while for a live-action project that is not a scripted drama, and this one is built around people competing for a prize. Amazon has not said more about the format in the announcement, so the details of the challenges will have to wait for the premiere.
