The Prince and Princess of Wales have shared a family photo that has not been published before. They posted it on Instagram on Sunday 25 October 2026 to mark Mountain Rescue Awareness Day, according to Hello Magazine.

The picture shows Prince William, Princess Catherine, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis together. It is a rare image of the whole family in one frame, and the couple chose it to sit alongside their message about mountain rescue.

The post connects to a challenge Catherine finished earlier this year. In June she completed the Three Peaks Challenge, a walk up three of the highest mountains in Britain, and raised money for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, a hospital and research charity that treats cancer patients. Hola reported in June that family members greeted her at the finish.

Prince William is Royal Patron of Mountain Rescue England, a role in which a senior figure lends his name and support to a charity. The volunteer teams that search for and rescue walkers and climbers in the hills are funded largely by donations, and awareness days like this one are used to draw attention to their work.

A separate message went out from the couple's official X account, @KensingtonRoyal. It thanked volunteers for giving their time and expertise to keep people safe in landscapes that are beautiful but can be dangerous. The message was signed "W & C", the initials of William and Catherine, which is a common way for the couple to sign joint posts.

No further details about the photo's date or setting have been released.

For followers, the post offers a rare glimpse of the family outside the usual event photographs. It also points to the volunteers who give up their own time to help others in the hills, a theme the couple returned to in both posts.
