Hudson Williams is writing a movie, and its central character is a former hockey player. The actor described the project in an exclusive interview with Entertainment Weekly, published on 21 October.

Williams is known to many viewers as Shane Hollander in Heated Rivalry, a series about hockey players. That history is part of the problem. Speaking to Deadline on 25 October, he said he is "getting tripped up" on the script.

He and his collaborators talked about giving the character a different sport. Hockey had already been Williams's job on screen, so repeating it felt like a risk. In the end, he said, the character simply made more sense as a former hockey player, even with those concerns.

Writing and acting are happening side by side. PinkNews reported on 22 October that Williams was filming the second season of Heated Rivalry that month. A second season means a new run of episodes for a show that has already aired, so the writing for the film is going on around a full production schedule.

People also reported on 21 October that Williams is writing a movie about an ex-hockey player, and highlighted the link to his earlier series.

For the people who work on these projects, a script that is still being shaped is the start of a long chain. A screenplay has to be finished, approved and financed before a crew can be hired and cameras can roll. Williams has not said where or when the film would be made, and he has not said who else would be involved.

The character stays a hockey player, and the script is still in progress.
