Tina Brown is joining Christiane Amanpour and Jamie Rubin as a host of The Ex Files, a podcast from Global. Deadline reported the news on 26 October 2026.

Brown is a veteran of magazines and news. She was once editor of The New Yorker, the US literary and current affairs magazine, and she founded The Daily Beast, a news website.

The Ex Files covers international affairs, geopolitics and the wider political landscape. Rubin is Amanpour's co-host, and the two are ex-spouses. The podcast's second season will focus on the upcoming U.S. midterm elections, the national votes held halfway through a US president's term.

New episodes arrive every Tuesday and Thursday. Listeners can find the show on Global Player, the audio app, and on YouTube.

The season launch comes as Amanpour prepares to step away from television news. Deadline reports she is set to leave CNN after more than 40 years at the network. She had also planned to end her PBS programme Amanpour & Company and her daily CNN International series by the end of 2026.

For viewers who followed Amanpour's broadcast work, the change means her reporting will reach them mainly through audio and video online. For the people who make these shows, it means new questions about what comes next for their schedules and their budgets.

The mix on the new season is clear. A former magazine editor, a foreign-affairs veteran and a co-host who knows the subject well will take on a national election in the United States. Listeners will get two new episodes a week as the midterms approach.
