Dylan Brings Back 'Million Miles' in Bremen, Its First Outing Since 2014

Bob Dylan played "Million Miles" for the first time since 2014 on Sunday, October 25, at the OVB Arena in Bremen, Germany, Rolling Stone reported. The song comes from Time Out of Mind, Dylan's album first released on September 30, 1997.
The Bremen show also brought a new version of "Trying to Get to Heaven," another track from Time Out of Mind. That song had been a regular in Dylan's recent setlists, the running list of songs a performer plays on a given night. The new arrangement carries echoes of "One More Cup of Coffee," from his album Desire.
Bremen was the eighth stop in the Lights of Autumn European run, which opened on October 19 in Oslo, Norway. Dylan debuted covers of two songs that night: Randy Newman's "Louisiana 1927" and Guy Clark's "Dublin Blues." He also revived "Crash on the Levee (Down in the Flood)," which had not been played since 2005.
Oslo also brought back "Tangled Up in Blue," last performed in 2018. This time Dylan played it on piano with minimal accompaniment and added two new verses. For a song many listeners know by heart, that is a noticeable change.
The European dates also marked a new face in the band. Guitarist Mike Seal made his debut with Dylan's group, sharing guitar duties with Joel Paterson.
For anyone in the Bremen crowd, the wait for "Million Miles" was more than a decade. Setlists like these are one reason touring fans keep returning to the same cities, since the songs can change from one night to the next.
Lights of Autumn continues across Europe, and the dates and set details are published by the tour and its venues as each show is confirmed.
