Donald Trump attacked the television host Bill Maher in a post on Truth Social, the social media platform, on Sunday evening, October 25. Calling Maher a "TOTAL LOSER" and a "COMPLETE AND TOTAL LOSER", Trump wrote a message of more than 1,300 words, according to The Guardian.

The post followed an episode of Maher's HBO program, Real Time with Bill Maher, in which he interviewed Karoline Leavitt, the former White House press secretary. Maher asked Leavitt about Trump's "lame duck" presidency, a term for a president whose time in office is nearing its end. He also asked whether Trump would seek "vengeance" if Republicans lose in next week's midterm elections.

In the post, Trump called Maher a "coward who is afraid to tell the truth about how well our Country is running." He described the show as a "Low Rated Show" on what he called an "equally Low Rated HBO," and told Maher "Don't call anymore." Trump's post also referred to dinners the two men had shared. Maher has dined with Trump twice during Trump's second administration, and Trump accused Maher of drinking a lot of alcohol on those occasions. Trump also used the words "POTHEAD" and "sleazebag" to describe him.

Trump wrote that Maher had made "so many other falsehoods," then added: "There were so many other falsehoods Bill spewed, but I won't waste time in FACT CHECKING him. He isn't worth it." He did not identify the falsehoods he had in mind.
