Hulu has cast five young leads and Scott Foley for Young Americans, a teen political drama set in Washington, D.C. Deadline reported the casting on 26 October 2026.

Foley will play U.S. President Judd Burchfield. The young cast is built around the people in his orbit. Billie Boullet plays Julia Burchfield, the President's daughter. Sam Rechner plays Rome Washburn, the son of a controversial senator.

Mia Isaac plays Saskia Carmichael, the adopted daughter of a Washington media dynasty. Oscar Winter Iannone plays Hogan Young, the son of the Vice President. Lauren Mei plays Harper Sinclair, a scholarship student at Capitol Crest.

The show is a pilot, which is a single first episode that a streamer makes to test an idea before committing to more. Variety reported in June that Hulu had given the drama a pilot order. A pilot is not yet a series, so whether Young Americans gets a full season is still to be decided.

Chris Hutton and Eddie O'Keefe, who write and executive produce, created the series. Bruce Miller and Priscilla Porianda are also executive producing, through the company White Oak. The studio behind the pilot is 20th Television.

For the cast, the pilot means weeks of work on a set that has to be built and filmed before anyone knows if a season will follow. For viewers, it means a new Washington story with a President at its centre and a group of teenagers living close to power.
