Players who want Phantom Blade Zero on release day will need a lot of room. The developer, Chinese studio S-Game, says the pre-load requires 300GB of free space, while the game itself takes up 145GB once installed. Eurogamer reported the figures.

A pre-load lets players download a game before launch, so it is ready to play when the date arrives. According to the game's official account on X, the pre-load opened on 26 October 2026 at 7:00 PM PDT. The game releases on 29 October 2026 on PC and PS5.

Why the gap between 300GB and 145GB? S-Game said temporary files and the complete game files must coexist during the unlock process. The extra space is freed once installation is complete, so the full 300GB is only needed for a while.

The game also requires an SSD, or solid-state drive, a faster type of storage than a traditional hard disk. The developers released updated system requirements alongside the pre-load details, as PC Gamer reported. Players with a hard disk or limited space should check those requirements before starting the download.

For anyone planning to play at launch, the practical step is simple. Check the free space on the drive where the game will be installed, confirm the drive is an SSD, and start the pre-load early enough for the download to finish before 29 October.
