Sophia Bush's memoir, And I Will Tell You Mine: Notes From a Life in Progress, is out on 27 October. Its most serious material concerns her time on One Tree Hill, where she describes alleged abuse by Mark Schwahn, who created the teen drama. Variety has reported the book's contents.

Bush is best known for two long-running series. One Tree Hill ran for nine seasons on American television, and Chicago P.D. is a police drama that follows a city unit through its cases. She has been acting for more than two decades.

The memoir also discusses Chicago P.D., but it does not name anyone connected to the show. Bush has said that is partly because the series is still on the air. She also wrote a more detailed account of those years, for her own well-being, and then put it away unpublished.

Bush told Variety that she cut stories that did not fit the shape of the book. She described the process as having to "kill your darlings", a writer's phrase for removing material you love. Some of that material could appear in a second book, she said, if she decides to write one.

The memoir does not cover John Tucker Must Die, the 2006 teen comedy film. Bush said she gave advance notice of the book's contents to people close to her who appear in it.

Earlier this month, Page Six reported on 21 October that Bush had confirmed which One Tree Hill co-star warned her not to date Chad Michael Murray, who also starred on the show. Page Six reported the exchange ahead of the book's release.

Readers who want Bush's account in her own words will find it in the book itself. Anything beyond what she has said publicly, including the unpublished account, is not part of the release.
