Chloë Levine Set to Star in Indie Drama 'Your Heart Is a Hummingbird'

Chloë Levine is set to star in Your Heart Is a Hummingbird, an independent drama already filming in Los Angeles. Deadline broke the casting news on Tuesday, 27 October.

The film is written and directed by SM Goldberger, who is a former adult film actress. The project is described as semi-autobiographical, drawing on the writer-director's own life. Goldberger's script was developed through the 2024 Antigravity Academy Screenwriters Camp, a programme that gives emerging writers time and feedback on a script before it moves toward production.

Levine plays Rebekah Rosenberg, who works under the name Bex Bacall and is a successful adult film star. The story follows Rebekah after she learns that her mother has cancer. It is a personal turn for a character whose working life is public, and the film pairs that contrast at the centre of its story.

The producers are Winsor Yuan, Chelsea Davenport and Kimberly Hwang. Shooting is under way in Los Angeles, so the production is working on a schedule that does not depend on a festival or a sales deal to get started.

For readers new to the business, an independent drama is a film made outside the major studios, usually with a smaller budget and a more limited release. Casting an actor in a lead role is often one of the first public signs that a film is moving forward, and it can help a project attract buyers and distributors later on.

Levine's casting is the main news for now. Release dates, distribution plans and a premiere have not been announced.
