Dancing with the Stars Turns to Horror, and Shum Jr. Earns a Perfect 40

Harry Shum Jr. and Jenna Johnson scored a perfect 40 out of 40 on Dancing with the Stars on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, for a contemporary routine inspired by the 2004 horror film Saw. The pair danced to "Toxic" by 2WEI, according to Deadline.
The episode, titled Horror Movie Night, was built around famous scary films. Dancers picked films such as The Omen and Sinners as their starting points, and the routines followed. The show also ended with a double elimination, meaning two couples were sent home in one night. No couple left the week before, on Dedication Night, so two went home this week, as Democrat and Chronicle reported ahead of the broadcast. Ten teams were still in the competition going into the night, per People.
Julia Stiles and Ezra Sosa danced an Argentine tango to "The Dogs Attack" from the 1976 film The Omen, and scored 26 out of 40. Stiles starred in the 2006 remake of that film. Tatyana Ali and Jan Ravnik performed a paso doble, a fast, dramatic Spanish-style dance, to "I Lied To You" by Miles Caton from Sinners, and scored 28 out of 40.
Jenna Dewan and Val Chmerkovskiy took the floor with an Argentine tango inspired by zombie films and scored 37 out of 40. Val was back on the show after a suspension, as USA Today reported. Connor Wood and Rylee Arnold scored 37 as well, with a contemporary routine inspired by Annabelle: Creation. Ezra Frech and Daniella Karagach scored 36 with a jazz number inspired by The Invisible Man.
Jackson Olson and Emma Slater danced a contemporary piece inspired by Joker to "That's Life" by Frank Sinatra. Shirley Ballas was the guest judge for the night. She is the mother of pro dancer Mark Ballas, who is part of the show's dancing team.
The show airs on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. Eastern and 7 p.m. Central, and streams on Disney+. Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Hough host, and Derek Hough and Bruno Tonioli judge, according to the show's ABC page.
The season began on September 16, 2026, with 16 new celebrities. Since then the field has shrunk to ten teams, and each week one or two couples leave. That pace is why a week with no exits can lead to two exits the next, and why Tuesday's double elimination carried extra weight for the dancers still in the running.
