Billboard Latin Music Awards Top Spanish-Language Primetime

The 2026 Billboard Latin Music Awards ranked No. 1 in Spanish-language television during the 7pm to 11pm primetime slot. The show was presented on Thursday, Oct. 22, from the James L. Knight Center in Miami, Florida, and aired live on Telemundo and Peacock, according to Billboard.
Nielsen, the audience measurement company, put the broadcast's average at 1.1 million total viewers. Among adults aged 18 to 49, a group that advertisers watch closely, the average was 335,000. An average counts every viewer across the full broadcast, so it is a steadier measure than a single busy moment. The show's peak came at 8:30pm, with 1.2 million total viewers and 400,000 adults aged 18 to 49.
The bigger audience may have been online. Telemundo's digital platforms and social channels recorded 306 million total views for the awards, up 57% on the 2025 edition. Fans watched a combined 29.7 million minutes of content, a 41% rise. YouTube viewing minutes more than doubled, up 101%, which the report links to expanded livestream coverage.
Talkwalker Social Content Ratings, which tracks social video views, ranked the show No. 1 across all television for total social video views. Billboard also reported that it was the leading broadcast program of the day, in any language, for social engagement. Telemundo described the result as a strong multiplatform performance, meaning one event watched across television, streaming and social apps at the same time.
The awards covered 47 categories across pop, tropical, Latin rhythm and regional Mexican music. Fuerza Regida was the night's biggest winner, taking eight awards and the Billboard Vanguard Award. Karol G won Fan Favorite Artist, a new category decided by fan votes and introduced for the first time this year.
Two veterans were honoured as well. Cristian Castro received the Billboard Lifetime Achievement Award, and Ruben Blades received the Billboard Icon Award.
For readers who follow the awards, the ratings are a useful guide to how many people tuned in. Those results were decided by the rules of each category. The audience numbers are one way to see how the show reached people, across the living room set and the phone in the hand.
