Versace Returns to Couture With Pieter Mulier's First Atelier Show in Paris

Versace will show its Atelier Versace couture line in Paris in January 2027, its first dedicated runway show since July 2016. The Italian fashion house confirmed the plan in a statement shared with WWD, the US fashion trade publication.
The show will be the debut collection for Pieter Mulier, who joined Versace as chief creative officer, the person who leads the look of the brand's collections. He officially started on 1 July, after leaving the Paris label Alaïa.
Atelier Versace is the house's couture line. Couture refers to made-to-measure clothing, cut and sewn by hand for individual clients, and in France the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode decides which houses may use the word. The show will take place during Paris Couture Week, scheduled for 25 to 28 January. Versace said the exact date and venue will be announced in due course.
Mulier's work for the line has already been seen in public. Nicole Kidman wore his first Atelier Versace design, an asymmetric black lace gown, at the Los Angeles premiere of Practical Magic 2 on 31 August. The lace was made by hand-intarsia, a method that builds the pattern into the fabric by hand. Kidman wore it with Manolo Blahnik pumps, according to WWD.
The January show also brings the Atelier line back into the calendar after a long gap. The last dedicated Atelier runway show took place in July 2016, more than ten years before the planned January presentation.
For anyone following Paris, the couture week sits in the same month as the city's men's fashion week, which the Fédération lists for 19 to 24 January 2027. Its women's autumn-winter 2027-2028 shows are listed for 1 to 9 March 2027. Versace has not said whether the Atelier show will be a standalone event or part of a wider schedule.
Versace has not published details of the collection itself, and the date and venue are still to come.
