Creative Assembly has committed to a full physical edition of Alien: Isolation 2, a boxed copy sold in shops rather than only as a download.

Asked whether the game would get one, the developers answered "yes", according to Eurogamer. The studio also said that staying true to the analogue nature of Alien is one of the core principles guiding the project.

The details came in a 17-minute developer video in which the team answered questions from fans, as IGN reported. The clearest picture of the game came from the answers about its monster.

The sequel will focus on a single Xenomorph, the franchise's iconic creature, and it is always present in the game world. Creative Assembly says this version is more intelligent than the original and can use extreme climate to hide and hunt the player.

Creative director Al Hope described a game split between claustrophobic interior spaces and exterior open spaces. In both, he said, the creature adapts and hunts. Lead game designer James Green said roughly a quarter to a third of the team worked on the original Alien: Isolation, so some of the people making the sequel carry that earlier experience with them.

Alien: Isolation 2 is planned for PC, Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S. SEGA officially announced the game on June 5, 2026, SEGA's announcement page confirms. No release date has been set yet.

For players who like their games on a shelf, the physical edition is the news to watch. The studio has not yet shared what that edition will contain, or when it will go on sale.
