Norway's Crown Princess Holds First Solo Audience as Heir

Crown Princess Ingrid Alexandra of Norway received representatives of Operation Day's Work at the Royal Palace in Oslo on 28 October 2026. It was her first solo audience since becoming heir to the throne. An audience is a formal meeting with a member of the royal family, and the heir is the person next in line to the throne.
Operation Day's Work is a campaign in which students across Norway choose one international project to support. The current project aims for fairer and safer schools in South Africa. The Royal Court of Norway, the household that supports the monarch's public duties, announced the meeting in a press release issued on 19 October. It said the Crown Princess would receive the representatives in audience on 28 October.
Receiving the campaign's representatives has been a duty of Norway's heir for decades. Crown Prince Haakon, now King Haakon VIII, took the audience for many years. He became king on 28 August, following the death of his father, King Harald V. Royal Central reported that the Crown Princess welcomed the team to the palace for the meeting.
The Royal Court's news report on the audience carries the headline "Tok imot Operasjon Dagsverk på nytt kontor", which translates roughly as "Received Operation Day's Work in new office." The office is a sign of the change in role. The Crown Princess has moved into the Arcade Room in the Royal Palace, the offices traditionally used by Norway's heir.
Ingrid Alexandra is 22 years old. She is the daughter of King Haakon VIII and Queen Mette-Marit, according to Vanity Fair. She made her first appearance as heir hours after the death of her grandfather, King Harald, People reported at the time.
The audience is listed in the Royal Court's official programme, the published schedule of the royal family's engagements.
