Robyn Turns Teddybears' "Punkrocker" Into a Pop Anthem on Radio 1

Robyn swapped a punk line for a pop one on Wednesday 28 October 2026, when she performed a mashup in BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge.
The Live Lounge is the station's stripped-back session slot, where artists play songs for the BBC's listeners in a studio. BBC Sounds carried the session, with listening open from midday that day. BBC Radio 1 had flagged the appearance on its Facebook page on 23 October 2026.
A mashup blends two songs into one performance. Robyn opened with the first verse of "Punkrocker" by Teddybears, a track that features Iggy Pop. She changed the word "punkrocker" to "pop star," then moved straight into "Popstar" by Tinashe. Pitchfork reported on the performance the same day.
The session also included "Sucker For You," which Robyn performed as a separate song. The BBC lists the programme as "Popstar/Punkrocker (Radio 1's Live Lounge, 28th Oct 2026)," and says it was produced by BBC Audio for BBC Radio 1.
Robyn's slot was one of several in Radio 1 Live Lounge Month 2026. The station's listings for the month also include sessions from Rachel Chinouriri, beabadoobee, Jorja Smith and Stella Lefty, each with its own running time.
For listeners who missed the broadcast, the full session is available on BBC Sounds. A video of the mashup has also been posted to YouTube, under the title "Popstar (Tinashe/Teddy Bears Mashup) in the Radio 1 Live Lounge."
