Russell Brand's wife tells court he is an "amazingly attentive husband"

Laura Brand, the wife of comedian Russell Brand, gave evidence on 29 October 2026 at his rape trial at Southwark Crown Court, a criminal court in London. She described him in court as a "wonderful father" to their children and as an "amazingly attentive husband", according to The Guardian.
She told the court that she met Brand at the Edinburgh festival in 2006. The couple split up in February 2007, which she said was because of his infidelity. They rekindled their romance in 2015 and married two years later. The couple have three children together. She also told the court it was difficult for Brand to be monogamous.
Brand, 51, is accused of seven offences, including rape and sexual assault, against six women. The allegations span 10 years, beginning in 1999. Jury selection for the trial took place on 12 October 2026, according to Reuters.
Brand gave evidence himself on 28 October, speaking for more than four hours, according to Sky News. He told the court that sexual consent is "fundamental", as the BBC reported. Earlier in the trial, a woman told the court that Brand anally raped her after she had willingly gone to his house for consensual sex, according to Reuters.
Laura Brand's evidence came as the defence was concluding its case, Sky News reported. Russell Brand denies all the charges against him.
