Billboard has named Dominican bachata singer Dalvin La Melodía its Latin Up-and-Comer Artist of the Month for October 2026, according to its profile published on 29 October. The honour comes a week after his first major awards appearance.

Bachata is a romantic style of music that started in the Dominican Republic, built around guitar and close vocals. Dalvin La Melodía was born Dalvin Antonio Núñez Vargas. He began singing at church at the age of five, with his father playing guitar beside him. He has never taken professional singing classes.

His audience grew online. In 2022, a close friend encouraged him to post singing videos on social media. His cover of "La Diabla" by Xavi earned more than one million views on TikTok, the short-video app, in its first 15 days. After public response to those videos, he met producer Suenala Mikey and began writing original songs with him.

Collaborations followed. Bachata artist El Chaval was the first to work with him, on the song "Antes y Después." He was also the only featured artist on Better Late Than Never, the joint album by Romeo Santos and Prince Royce, released in November 2025.

His debut studio album, La Bachata Volvió, peaked at No. 35 on Billboard's Top Latin Albums chart, in the chart dated 24 October. He has also charted on Hot Latin Songs, Latin Airplay, Hot Tropical Songs, Tropical Airplay and the Billboard Argentina Hot 100, which are Billboard's weekly rankings for songs and radio play across Latin and tropical music.

On 22 October, he performed during the pre-show of the 2026 Billboard Latin Music Awards. He was also a first-time finalist, meaning one of the nominees, for Top Tropical Album of the Year, the category covering La Bachata Volvió.

Hola reported in September that he is 23 years old.

For listeners who discovered him through a phone screen, the path is an unusual one. A church choir, a friend's push, a few videos and a producer who answered the response. The album chart position is still modest, but it sits alongside a debut year that now includes an awards-show slot and a featured spot on a major duo's record.
