Alliance Media Partners (AMP) has taken on worldwide sales for Modem, a techno-horror film, ahead of its market debut at AFM, the American Film Market. Deadline reported the deal on 29 October 2026.

Worldwide sales means the sales company will offer the film to distributors in each country, from cinemas to streaming services. The market is where those buyers look at new films and decide what to bid on. According to Deadline, AMP Head of Sales and Acquisitions Anthony Buckner negotiated the deal with Jonathan Sadler on behalf of the filmmakers. The financial terms were not reported.

The film is set during a family's digital detox holiday in a house in a Swedish forest. A teenager finds an old modem there, and it wakes a dormant demon. The official account for the film describes it as a Nordic Noir Thriller, a label for crime and suspense stories set in Scandinavia that often have a cold, slow-building mood.

Tim James Brown directs Modem in his feature debut, and he also wrote the screenplay. The cast is Josh Burdett, Amanda Renberg, Nika Tallroth, Frederik Gunnarsson, Ylva Loof and Henrik Lundstrom.

Before the market, the film has played on the festival circuit. Deadline lists screenings at Raindance, the Stockholm City Film Festival and the New York International Film Awards. Festival runs like these give a film a public audience and a track record, which can help a sales company when it approaches buyers.

For a small independent film, a worldwide sales deal at AFM is often the first step toward a release. Buyers who attend the market will be the ones to pick up the film for their own countries. No release dates or buyers have been announced so far.
