Donald Glover to Direct and Star in Netflix's Live-Action PUBG Series

Netflix is developing a live-action series based on PUBG, the video game, and Donald Glover will direct and star in it. Deadline reported the news on 29 October 2026.
PUBG is a battle royale game. In that genre, dozens of players drop onto a map and fight until one is left standing. The game first appeared in 2017 under the longer title PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, and it has set seven Guinness World Records.
The series comes out of a first-look deal between Netflix and Krafton, the Korean company that publishes the game. A first-look deal gives the streamer the first chance to develop a company's projects. Netflix brought Glover to the project, according to Deadline.
Glover is writing the series with his brother, Stephen Glover, and he is also an executive producer. Four other executive producers are attached: Michael Schaefer for Neon TV, Fam Udeorji for Gilga, and Taeseok Jang and Sujin Lee for Krafton's entertainment arm, LV3H.
The brothers have worked together before. Stephen was part of the team on FX's Atlanta, a comedy-drama that Donald Glover created and starred in. It follows two cousins trying to break into Atlanta's rap scene. FX ordered the show in 2015 as a half-hour series with a 10-episode order, and in 2017 Glover signed an exclusive overall deal with FX Productions, according to Variety. Glover won two Emmys for Atlanta, one for acting and one for directing.
PUBG has been looking at screen projects for years. Krafton announced plans for a PUBG movie and a TV series in 2020. In 2021, an animated PUBG series from Adi Shankar, a Castlevania executive producer, was announced. Krafton's LV3H is now involved in developing and producing projects as the franchise expands into original entertainment.
For viewers, the key word is "development." It means the show is at the planning stage, before filming starts. Many projects announced at this stage take a long time to reach a screen, and some never do. The next public signal would be a formal order from Netflix, which would confirm that the series is moving ahead.
Glover's name adds a clear draw, and the Netflix deal shows the streamer is looking at game properties as material for drama. Anyone who has played PUBG, or has watched friends play it, now has a new title to keep an eye on.
