Krafton posts record quarter as PUBG revenues climb 25 percent across the board

Krafton's PUBG franchise earned 25 percent more in the first half of 2026 than in the same stretch of 2025, with every version of the game — PC, mobile, and the India-specific Battlegrounds Mobile India — posting growth Eurogamer.

The Korean publisher disclosed the figure in its Q2 2026 earnings report, published on 29 July. Revenue for the quarter reached 1.29 trillion won (roughly £670 million), while operating profit hit 410.9 billion won (about £213 million) — a 67 percent jump year-on-year and a new company record Korea Economic Daily.

The growth was lopsided in a way that tells its own story. Krafton's PC segment revenue grew 155.1 percent year-on-year in Q2, and console revenue grew 143.3 percent. Mobile, the segment that carried PUBG for years, grew 5.5 percent Investing.com. Over the full first half, PUBG on PC and console was up 37 percent, while PUBG Mobile rose 18 percent.

Krafton pointed to recent collaborations and new game modes as the engines behind the brand's growth. On PC, that meant Xeno Point, a co-op mode where players team up against AI enemies rather than fighting each other — a shift for a game built on last-man-standing shootouts. The PC version also ran a crossover event with the Payday series, the bank-heist shooter franchise.

On mobile, growth was partly driven by user-generated content — custom maps and modes built by players themselves — through a creative toolset called World of Wonder. Krafton said it plans to upgrade those creation tools, expand the system using licensed properties like Naruto and Spider-Man, and introduce a new in-game currency designed to reward creators and keep players engaged Eurogamer.

The company has also been testing an AI companion system. On 16 June 2026, Krafton announced the PUBG Ally Duo beta, a new Arcade mode that lets a single player team up with an AI character named Ella on the Sanhok map. The beta ran from 17 June to 1 July 2026 and supported Korean, Chinese, and English. Krafton had flagged the feature — its first "co-playable character" — in its Q3 2025 earnings, targeting a first-half 2026 release Krafton.

Beyond PUBG, Krafton reported that Subnautica 2, the underwater survival sequel, surpassed 5 million units sold during its Early Access period — the phase where a game is sold and played while still in active development Krafton Press.

For all the record-breaking at the operating level, Krafton still posted a net loss for the quarter, driven by costs tied to acquisitions Investing.com. In other words, the business of buying other companies weighed on the bottom line even as the core games business surged.

What stands out is the scale of the PC and console turnaround. A game that launched in 2017, moved to a free-to-play model in 2022, and spent years watching mobile carry the financial load is now growing fastest on its original platforms. New modes, licensed crossovers, and an AI companion are all bets on keeping a player base that could have drifted to newer titles — and for one quarter at least, those bets are paying off.
