Selena Gomez Pays Tribute to Demi Lovato Over 25 Years of Friendship

Selena Gomez has shared a public tribute to her longtime friend Demi Lovato, posting Rare Beauty campaign photos and throwback pictures on Instagram on Thursday, 29 October 2026.
In the post, Gomez wrote about "over 25 years of ups and downs in life and friendship and growth." She said Lovato had known her as a seven-year-old with a dream, a nod to the pair's first meeting on the children's show Barney & Friends in the early 2000s. "I love what we've been through. I'm proud of what we've been through," she wrote. She also thanked Lovato for "still being one of the most unbelievably real honest human beings in my life," and signed off with "I love you with all my heart."
The post sits alongside a new Rare Beauty campaign built around a blush collaboration between the two singers and actors. The brand's reunion video, captioned "18 years later, Delena is back with a vlog," showed the pair filming together for the first time in about 18 years, according to USA Today. "Delena" is a fan nickname that joins their names.
The look of the campaign draws on Princess Protection Program, the 2009 film the two starred in together. In the vlog, they recreated their famous "Yo, yo!" opening from that era, answered questions from fans, and posed in tiaras beside old photos of themselves. Lovato told E! News that the two reconnected for the collaboration after going through different chapters of their lives.
Their musical history is smaller than their screen history. Their 2009 duet "One and the Same" peaked at No. 82 on the Billboard Hot 100, the U.S. weekly singles chart that ranks songs by sales, radio play and streaming. Lovato's 2025 album It's Not That Deep debuted at No. 9 on the U.S. albums chart. Gomez's 2025 album with Benny Blanco, I Said I Love You First, reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200, the weekly U.S. album ranking.
Gomez also turned up at one of Lovato's shows on the It's Not That Deep tour earlier this year, according to Billboard, which first reported the post.
For fans who have followed the pair since their Disney years, the message is a direct one. Gomez ended her note by saying the friendship has been worth the ups and downs, and the campaign gives them a chance to say so in their own voices.
