Mary J. Blige told a fan who was booing her, "you didn't have to come here," during her October 28 show in Las Vegas.

The concert took place at Dolby Live at Park MGM. The booing started between songs, near the two-hour mark of the set, according to People. Blige, 55, answered the person directly. She asked why they had spent money to attend, and said she hoped someone would politely remove them from the venue.

The night also brought a guest. Wyclef Jean joined Blige on stage to perform "911," a song the two have performed together before. Billboard reported the exchange with the fan and the appearance by Jean.

The show was part of "My Life, My Story," a residency. A residency is a run of concerts by one act in one venue, so the audience comes to the artist rather than the other way round. This is Blige's first residency in Las Vegas. She was scheduled to perform again on October 30 and on Halloween, October 31, at Dolby Live. The Halloween date is the last of her residency shows in 2026.

The run continues into next year. Billboard reported that the residency will conclude in February 2027 with five dates.

For ticket holders, the practical details are the venue and the dates already listed. For the crew, the venue staff and the touring team, a residency means the same stage and the same schedule for weeks at a time, and a fan's reaction in the room is part of the night's work.

Blige has not publicly said why the fan booed. Her comments on the night were directed at that one person, and the concerts continue as scheduled.
