Disney+ will premiere Season 3 of "Percy Jackson and the Olympians" on November 20, and fans at an Italian festival got a first look this week. The cast and creators showed previously unseen footage at Lucca Comics & Games, a comics and games festival in Lucca that runs from October 28 to November 1.

The new season adapts Rick Riordan's third book, "The Titan's Curse." At the Lucca panel, co-creator Jonathan E. Steinberg said the season's bigger war story becomes real, and that it introduces the show's "first real bad guy," according to Variety.

Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries and Aryan Simhadri joined Steinberg and executive producer Dan Shotz on stage. The audience saw a clip of Thalia, played by Tamara Smart, fighting a monster in an underground car park. Another clip had Percy Jackson declaring "Zeus sucks!"

Several familiar faces return. Charlie Bushnell is back as Luke Castellan, Daniel Diemer as Tyson, and Dior Goodjohn as Clarisse La Rue. The season also adds a set of gods and Titans played by a wider group of performers. Holt McCallany plays the Titan Atlas, Hubert Smielecki plays Apollo, Kate McKinnon plays Aphrodite, and Ming-Na Wen plays Hera.

Disney+ used the festival to do more than screen footage. It opened the Percy Jackson Experience, an immersive pavilion where visitors could test themselves in the show's world. The streamer returned to Lucca with the series as the centrepiece of the festival's 60th anniversary.

For viewers at home, the key date is November 20, when all of Season 3 is due on Disney+. The panel's clips and cast list give a sense of where the story goes next, and the season's arrival will show whether the lineup of returning and new characters lands with audiences.
