Ramy Brook, the New York fashion label, has named Ashley Bryan as its first president, WWD reported. The role is new to the company, which was founded in 2010 by Ramy Brook Sharp.

A president is a senior executive who oversees how a company runs day to day, usually working alongside the chief executive. Bryan will report to the label's two co-chief executives, Ramy Sharp and Rob Sharp. Ramy Brook Sharp is also the creative director, the person who sets the look of the collections.

Bryan's background is mostly in marketing and digital work for fashion and luxury retail. She most recently served as chief marketing officer at L'Agence, the label co-founded by Jeff Rudes. Before that she was chief marketing officer at Moda Operandi, an online retailer of designer clothing. Earlier posts included senior leadership roles at the online luxury retailer Net-a-porter, the American brand BCBGMaxAzria and the knitwear label St. John Knits.

Ramy Brook is sold in more than 250 boutiques nationwide, according to the report. Those include its flagship store on Madison Avenue in New York and its own website, ramybrook.com. The label is also stocked by several major department stores: Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom, Bergdorf Goodman, Bloomingdale's and Neiman Marcus.

That mix of channels is the reason a marketing and digital background matters for the job. A label that sells through its own shop and website, and also through other retailers, has to manage how customers find it across all of them.
