Final Volume of Akatsuki no Yona Debuts at No. 1 in Japan

Volume 48 of Mizuho Kusanagi's manga Akatsuki no Yona opened at No. 1 on the Billboard Japan Book Hot 100 chart, released on 29 October. This volume is the last in the series.
The Hot 100 is a weekly ranking of books in Japan. It combines sales from physical bookstores and online retailers, so a title can climb on one channel, on the other, or on both. This edition covered sales from 19 to 25 October, according to Billboard Japan.
The series began in 2009 in Hana to Yume, a monthly magazine for girls and young women published in Japan. Volume 48 also ranked No. 1 on Billboard Japan's Hot Manga chart, which tracks comics on their own, Billboard Japan reported.
Behind the No. 1 spot, two other titles had strong weeks. Yusei Yagi's second photo book, Be my, entered at No. 2 on the Hot 100. It also topped the e-commerce measure, which counts online sales only, as Billboard reported.
Gosho Aoyama's Detective Conan Vol. 109 ranked No. 3 on the same chart. It kept the No. 1 position for brick-and-mortar sales, meaning copies sold in physical shops.
The chart also shows how the two channels can split. Be my led online, while Detective Conan held the lead in shops. Akatsuki no Yona managed the top overall place across both.
For readers who follow Japanese comics, the chart is a snapshot of one week's buying. Each position is built from copies that were paid for, and a new volume in a long-running series often draws the biggest early crowd. Billboard Japan's own chart pages list the full top 100 for anyone who wants to look further down the rankings.
Earlier this year, in September, Yukinobu Tatsu's Dandadan Vol. 25 had opened at No. 1 on the same Billboard Japan Book Hot 100, the chart's first week of that run. This week's result adds one more name at the top of the list.
