Yama Wayama's Onna no Sono no Hoshi Vol. 5 has gone straight to No. 1 in Japan. It topped the Billboard Japan Book Hot 100 chart released Sept. 17, which tracked activity from Sept. 7 to 13, according to Billboard.

The Book Hot 100 is not a shop-only list. It combines physical sales with e-books, library loans, subscription reading data and social media activity, giving a wide view of what readers are buying, borrowing and discussing.

Vol. 5 won across formats. It ranked No. 1 for brick-and-mortar sales and No. 1 for e-books. It also placed No. 2 in e-commerce and No. 10 for social media.

That spread produced a decisive margin. The book earned more than three times the chart points of the title in second place. It is a clear gap at the top.

The runner-up is Kaoru Hana wa Rin to Saku Vol. 24. It entered the chart at No. 2 for the same Sept. 7 to 13 week. It placed No. 4 in both brick-and-mortar sales and e-books.

Third place went to another long-running series. Mairimashita! Iruma-kun Vol. 50 by Osamu Nishi ranked No. 3 on the chart.

What makes this stand out is the balance of the win. Topping both physical shop sales and e-books means the new volume reached collectors and digital readers at once, while strong e-commerce added a second retail channel.

For fans, this means the new week belongs to Wayama's series. Two other continuing manga volumes sit directly behind it, making the top three an all-manga line-up for this tracking period.
