MAZZEL's "Touch" Reaches No. 1 on the Billboard Japan Hot 100

MAZZEL's single "Touch" has taken the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Japan Hot 100, according to the chart released on Oct. 28. Billboard Japan reported that it is the first song by the group to reach No. 1 on the chart's overall ranking.
The Hot 100 is a weekly chart that combines several measures of popularity: physical sales (copies of discs sold in shops and online), downloads, streaming, radio airplay and video views. This week's chart counted activity from Oct. 19 to 25. "Touch" came out on Oct. 21 as the title song of MAZZEL's fifth single.
The single sold 120,498 copies, which placed it third for physical sales. It ranked second for radio and second for downloads, with 9,264 downloads counted. It finished third for video views and 14th for streaming.
The top spot was contested. Naniwa Danshi's "Moonlit" debuted at No. 2 on the same chart. The song also came out on Oct. 21, as the title track of the group's 11th single. It sold 407,879 copies, the highest total in the sales measure, and led downloads with 15,153 units.
Further down, Lienel's "Ai no Dabada" climbed from No. 38 to No. 3. It sold 358,532 copies to rank second for sales.
Billboard Japan later published a follow-up article with comments from MAZZEL about "Touch" reaching the top of the overall chart. For readers new to the chart, the key point is that No. 1 is decided by the combined total, not by one measure alone. A single can lead the overall ranking without topping every category, and this week's results show exactly that split across the three songs.
