Yacht Club Games says its game Mina the Hollower has secured the studio's finances, though it is careful about how long that will last. Sean Velasco said in a Reddit AMA, an "ask me anything" question-and-answer session on the forum, that the game had given the company financial stability "for now."

The studio is best known for Shovel Knight, which it launched in 2014 after a successful Kickstarter, a crowdfunding campaign where fans pay in advance to help a project get made. Mina the Hollower took six years to develop. The studio's website lists it for launch in Spring 2026 on Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch.

Before launch, the studio described the game as a "make-or-break" moment, a phrase meaning the result could decide what came next for the company. Eurogamer reports that Mina the Hollower sold more than 500,000 copies in its first two weeks.

Work on the game has not stopped at launch. Yacht Club Games says it is adding more post-release features, meaning updates made after release. These include expanded randomizer options, which shuffle parts of a game so each run plays out differently. The studio also plans enemy and boss randomization, more modifiers (rule changes that alter how the game plays), and features for speedrunners, players who race through a game as quickly as they can.

The studio's other current project is also under way. Alec Faulkner said most of Yacht Club Games is currently working on a 3D game. The studio has not given a release date for that project.

For players, the immediate news is the list of updates still to come. For the studio, it is a sign that the team can keep building while the game continues to sell.
