Worcestershire Tie Down Seamer Ben Allison on New Three-Year Deal

Worcestershire have signed seamer Ben Allison to a new three-year contract, the club announced on 31 October. BBC Sport also reported the deal. Allison is 26, and a seamer is a bowler who relies on pace and movement off the pitch.
He first arrived at Worcester on loan, and he has since made the move to a more permanent contract. Across his first-class career, he has taken 88 wickets for the club at an average of 25.50. First-class cricket is the longer, multi-day format played between the counties, and a bowling average is the number of runs conceded for each wicket. The lower the figure, the better the bowler.
His best bowling came in the final game of the season. Against Derbyshire at Worcester, he took 6-42 in one innings, which means six wickets for 42 runs. Across the whole match he finished with 11-64, his best match figures.
Allison has also made runs. His highest score is 89, made against Middlesex in the County Championship Division Two, the second tier of England's four-day league. That innings showed a bowler who can contribute with the bat as well as the ball.
Worcestershire's head coach is Alan Richardson. The new contract keeps Allison at New Road for the next three seasons, giving the club a seamer with a proven record in both formats of the county game.
