Michael Douglas Gives an Update on Jack Nicholson

Michael Douglas says his friend Jack Nicholson is "well" but has "disappeared" and is "not working any more." The remarks were made at an event on Monday, 26 October 2026, and were reported by People and Rolling Stone in the days that followed.

Douglas spoke in Swansea, Wales, while promoting his memoir, One Helluva Ride. Asked about Nicholson, he said: "I still see him, but he is fine." He added that Nicholson is "up there by his house and walking around in his slippers."

Nicholson is 89. His last big-screen film was How Do You Know, released in 2010. He returned to television screens in 2025, when he made a surprise appearance to introduce Adam Sandler on the 50th-anniversary episode of Saturday Night Live.

Douglas also said he would have liked to act alongside Nicholson. The two are long-time friends in the film world, and Douglas's first venture into producing was One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, the film that starred Nicholson.

For anyone who grew up on those films, the update is a simple one. Douglas says his friend is doing well at home, and he has not signalled any return to work.
