Investigators are still working with laboratories on DNA analysis in the case of Nancy Guthrie, the Pima County Sheriff's Department said in an update posted Friday, October 30. The post came from the department's official X account, and it was signed by Sheriff Chris Nanos.

Guthrie is 84. She is the mother of Savannah Guthrie, a co-host of NBC's TODAY. Her case has been open since she was taken from her home earlier this year.

According to US Magazine, the sheriff's office said investigators traveled to Florida earlier in October to meet with lab scientists about moving the case forward. NBC Bay Area reported that the Nancy Guthrie Task Force was meeting with DNA scientists in Florida as the case neared its nine-month mark. The task force is the group working the case jointly.

DNA has been a central thread for months. In February, CBS News reported that Nanos said the DNA results received up to that point had not led to a suspect. That same month, Reuters reported that the FBI had asked the sheriff for physical evidence from the case, including a glove and DNA collected from her home.

In August, the department marked six months since Guthrie was taken from her home. It said then that the investigation remained active and ongoing. The October update uses the same language.

Anyone with information is asked to call 88-CRIME or 1-800-CALL-FBI. The sheriff's office says no tip is too small to report, and that even a detail that seems minor could matter to investigators.

The department has not set a date for its next update.
