Funcom has set 1 December 2026 as the release date for Blood and Ice, a free expansion for Dune: Awakening. The studio announced the date on 29 October 2026.

Dune: Awakening is a multiplayer survival game set on the desert planet Arrakis, where players gather resources, build bases and travel across a shared world. Blood and Ice leaves the sand behind. Funcom describes the expansion as a new survival adventure that explores the frozen north of Arrakis. (Funcom press release)

The new area is called the Polar Sink. It has two biomes, the tundra and the ice cap, and each one is a different kind of terrain to cross. Funcom says heat becomes an ally for players on the Polar Sink, which puts a different spin on survival in a world built around the desert.

The expansion also adds around 35 hours of new progression, meaning new goals and rewards for players to work through. It brings new vehicle modules, which change how players' vehicles are built and equipped. It adds augments, which are upgrades, and specialisation traits, which shape how a character develops. Blood and Ice is coming to PC, PS5 and Xbox. Funcom has not made the expansion's platforms or launch timing part of a paid tier, and it is presented as free to players who already play the game.

For players, the news is mostly about the calendar. Anyone planning to return to Arrakis has a clear date to work toward, and the frozen map offers a change of scenery from the desert regions the game has been built around.
