Final Fantasy XIV's next expansion, Evercold, will launch on 23 February 2027. An expansion is a paid add-on that brings new areas, story and challenges to an online game. Square Enix confirmed the date on 31 October 2026 GMT, and it is later than first planned. IGN reports that the launch was originally set for January 2027 before moving to February.

Early access starts on 19 February 2027, four days before the full launch. Early access lets players enter the new content ahead of everyone else.

The expansion adds two new jobs. A job is a character class that a player can switch to, each with its own role in a group. Bastion, the first, is a tank. Tanks take hits so the rest of the group can survive, and Bastion fights with a greatshield. Producer and director Naoki Yoshida revealed it at Fan Festival Berlin.

The second, Zephyr, is a ranged damage-dealer. It fights with a crossbow, and a bird companion called Nephele supports it. Yoshida unveiled Zephyr during the opening keynote of Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival 2026 in Tokyo, according to Eurogamer.

Square Enix also showed a new raid difficulty called Fierce, which sits between the Normal and Savage levels. A raid is a large group challenge that needs coordination from a full team. The publisher said the game has passed 35 million registered accounts.

Pre-orders open on Wednesday 4 November at 9am GMT. Buyers get a Wind-Up Köttr minion and Halone's Earring, an accessory that raises experience points from defeated enemies by 30 percent.

Physical and digital collector's editions are also available. The Collector's Box contains physical goods only. It includes an art box with an Evercold illustration by Yoshitaka Amano, a Warrior of Light reaper figure, an Ethos metal keychain, a Köttr mini plush and a Tapestry of the Fourth. The game itself is not included. The company says the box is limited in quantity and sold exclusively through the Square Enix Store, according to the Square Enix press release.

The digital Collector's Edition adds a Valhallar Odin mount, an Entreat Crystal emote and a Crystal Skyltborg weapon for Bastion.

For players, the practical details are now clear. Pre-orders start next week, the new jobs are known, and the date is fixed at 23 February 2027.
