Americans vote on Tuesday, November 3, in midterm elections that will decide all 435 seats in the House of Representatives, the lower chamber of Congress, and 35 of the 100 seats in the Senate, the upper chamber. Al Jazeera reported that about 210 million registered voters will take part.

Midterms are held in the middle of a presidential term, and this year's contest is a fight for control of Congress. Reuters reported that tens of millions of Americans had already cast their ballots in advance of Election Day, and that both the Democratic and Republican parties were making their final appeals to voters. Reuters described the campaign as entering its final weekend, with disputes over ballots intensifying in Alaska and California.

President Donald Trump has kept a close-to-daily rally schedule as the vote approaches, according to NPR. Reuters reported that he was scheduled to travel to Iowa and Kansas for rallies ahead of the election. Candidates in key races and the president were making closing arguments to voters with two days left before the vote, according to CBS News.

Among the races drawing attention, NPR has profiled young Republicans running for House seats, a group it described as Gen Z Republicans. The coverage is part of a wider set of House contests that observers are watching in the final stretch.

The result on Tuesday will determine which party holds the House and Senate for the next period of the national government. Until polls close, the parties' final messages and the outcome of the ballot disputes in Alaska and California remain part of the campaign's closing days.
