Netflix Lays Off Staff in London, Including UK Production Chief Anna Mallett

Netflix has laid off around 2 to 3 percent of staff in its London office, and one of those leaving is Anna Mallett, its vice president of production for the UK and Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). Deadline reported the cuts on 2 November 2026. The London office employs several hundred people.
Mallett worked across TV shows and movies in the UK and EMEA. She joined Netflix in November 2020, just over five years ago. At the time, the company appointed her vice president of physical production, a role covering UK and local-language production across EMEA, Latin America and Asia-Pacific. Physical production is the filming side of the business: the crews, sets and locations that turn a script into a show.
Her career began in broadcasting and production before Netflix. She was chief executive of the news organisation ITN for less than two years before she moved to the streamer. Before that, she was group chief operating officer and managing director of production at BBC Studios.
Other UK staff leaving in the same round worked in public relations and marketing, according to Deadline.
The London cuts are part of a wider reduction. Netflix had already said it was cutting 1,000 roles, about 6 percent of its global staff. Those broader cuts fell most heavily on product, technology, legal and human resources teams, according to the same report.
Senior changes came with them. Content chief Bela Bajaria and film boss Dan Lin both left the company. Peter Rice has replaced Bajaria.
The Ankler was the first outlet to report Mallett's departure, Deadline noted.
Behind each commissioning decision sits a team of producers, production managers and crew. Cuts at the top of a production operation can change how and where that work gets organised, though the announcement did not say how Netflix's UK production work will be run from here.
