Jaguar Redesigns Knightsbridge Store, Adds a Restaurant and Shows the Type 01

Jaguar has redesigned its flagship store in Knightsbridge, the upmarket shopping district in central London. The building is now the only place in the world where the public can see the Type 01, the brand's new electric car, according to Dezeen.
Most of the ground floor is taken up by a restaurant called Café Eighty-One. It is run by Michael O'Hare, a chef whose restaurant holds a Michelin star, the award from the long-running Michelin restaurant guide. Visitors can eat there without buying a car, and the space is built around that idea of stopping for a meal.
The showroom has room to display two cars at once. Downstairs, the lower level holds private spaces for sales, meetings and customisation talks, where buyers can discuss custom details with staff. One of these rooms is called the Design Vault.
The car at the centre of the store is the Type 01. Jaguar's own media release from October describes it as a luxury four-door GT, and presents it as the first car of a new era for the brand. Design Week reports that the car produces 1030bhp, a measure of engine power, and carries a £130,000 price tag. Jaguar's US website says the car has an electric range of 400 miles on a fully charged battery, with 21-inch wheels.
For anyone planning a visit, the store is at the Knightsbridge address in London, and the car is on view there. Anyone who wants to see the Type 01 in person will need to go to London, since the store is the only public display of it.
