Most of National's 2023 voters still back the party, RNZ-Reid poll finds

Most people who said they voted National at the 2023 election still back the party. A breakdown of the latest RNZ-Reid Research poll by RNZ found that 56.9% of those voters still support National.
Of National's 2023 voters, 14% now back Labour, 10.6% back ACT and 7.8% back New Zealand First. Taken together, ACT and New Zealand First have picked up 18.4% of National's 2023 voters. The Opportunity Party has attracted 4.9% and the Greens 3.6%.
The movement also runs the other way. Labour has kept 71.5% of its 2023 voters, according to the same breakdown. Of Labour's 2023 voters, 9.9% now back the Greens, 5.6% back the Opportunity Party and 5.1% back New Zealand First. Only 3.3% back National.
The full poll put National's overall vote at 24.8% and Labour's at 30.6%. Reid Research surveyed 1000 eligible voters online between 20 and 26 October. The results were weighted, meaning adjusted, to reflect the make-up of the population. The poll has a maximum margin of error of 3.1 percentage points, which is the range within which the true level of support could sit.
Christopher Luxon warned voters against "sleepwalking" into the election after the poll put National at 24.8%.
