Vertical and Blue Fox Pick Up Psychological Thriller Games We Play

Vertical and Blue Fox Entertainment have acquired Games We Play, a psychological thriller starring Casey Cott, Deadline reported on 2 November 2026.
The film has been split between two companies. Vertical holds North American rights, which cover the United States and Canada. Blue Fox Entertainment acquired international rights, meaning the right to sell the film in every market outside North America.
Blue Fox will take the film to overseas buyers at the American Film Market (AFM), the trade event where distributors shop for films that are not yet on screens. Buyers there decide which titles their own countries will see.
Vertical will release Games We Play in select theatres and on video on demand (VOD), the service that lets viewers rent or buy a film online, on 4 December 2026. A limited theatrical run means the film will open in a small number of cinemas before reaching home screens.
Cott plays Jack. Margot Pitts plays Imogen, and she also co-wrote the screenplay with Molly Scharlin Ben-Hamoo. Pitts and Ben-Hamoo are both credited as executive producers. Dylan McTee plays Gage, and Adam Faison plays Freddie.
The film was directed by Rachael Dahl. It marks her feature directorial debut, which means it is the first full-length film she has directed.
Taryn Gates and Raza Rizvi produced the picture. The deals with Blue Fox Entertainment and Vertical were negotiated by Gates & Rizvi.
For the cast and crew, the timing matters. A December release puts the film into the end-of-year window, when studios and independent distributors compete for audiences. Vertical's date is now fixed, while the international sales will be carried out over the coming months at the AFM and beyond.
What happens next is the part to watch. Overseas buyers will decide which countries get the film, and when. Each deal will tell you how the film is being valued in markets far from its first release.
