McKenna Grace Says She Turns Down Roles Involving Nudity

McKenna Grace says she turns down acting roles that require nudity. The actress made the comment in an interview with Cosmopolitan, published on Monday, 2 November.

Grace was speaking during the press tour for The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. A press tour is a run of interviews and events that a studio sets up to promote a film before it opens. In the film, Grace plays Maysilee Donner.

She was clear about her own limits. "I respect anybody who can, but it's terrifying to me," she told Cosmopolitan, referring to actors who take on nude or very sexual scenes. Variety quoted her saying that, at this point in her career, she does not do nudity or very hypersexual work.

Her current television work is also in the news. Variety reports that Grace is starring as Daphne in Netflix's live-action Scooby-Doo series. Netflix is the streaming service that will show the series.

Grace also talked about her ambitions. Variety reports that she said her dream is to one day be a Disney princess. Her fondness for fairy-tale characters came up on the same tour. The Express Tribune reported in October that she had channelled Rapunzel during the Sunrise on the Reaping press run.

For many young performers, the choice of roles is one of the most public decisions they make. Each part sets the kind of work an actor is offered next. Grace's comments show how one performer is drawing her own lines as her career grows. Actors often describe these limits in interviews, and studios and casting teams generally take them into account when they offer parts.

Grace's comments came during a busy week of promotion for the franchise film.
