Sam Pinkleton to Direct Two Josh Sharp Shows at Soho Theatre in 2027

Sam Pinkleton, the director and 2025 Tony Award winner, will direct two shows by Josh Sharp at Soho Theatre in 2027. WhatsOnStage reported the news on 3 November 2026.
The first show is An Hour of Crowd Work in the Round. It runs in Soho Theatre Upstairs from 16 to 27 February 2027. The piece asks what the audience does for a living, and the audience takes part in it. It was first seen in the UK as part of the Shedinburgh programme, a festival strand linked to the Edinburgh festivals. Carlee Briglia produces it.
The second is ta-da!, a one-man show written by and starring Sharp. It will be performed for one night only at Soho Theatre Walthamstow, in east London, on 6 March 2027. In it, Sharp talks his way through a PowerPoint presentation of 2,000 slides. He has memorised them at a rate of one slide every 2.1 seconds. The show explores identity and mortality, according to London Theatre.
ta-da! has already had a run in New York. It played the Greenwich House Theater on Barrow Street in Manhattan's West Village. Performances began on 7 July 2025, the official opening was on 21 July, and the show closed on 27 September 2025.
Pinkleton's recent directing credits include Oh, Mary!, The Rocky Horror Show and Ceilidh. Mike Lavoie co-produces ta-da! with Briglia. The creative team for ta-da! includes Stivo Arnoczy as co-video designer, Skylar Fox for magic, Daniel Kluger for incidental music and Meredith Ries as set designer.
The two shows are a pairing of different kinds. One depends on the crowd in the room. The other depends on one performer and a very long slide deck. Both are due to land in the same London venue group within a few weeks of each other, which gives audiences two chances to see Sharp and Pinkleton's work in 2027.
Soho Theatre is a London venue known for comedy and new writing. Its Walthamstow site is a second base in east London.
