Behaviour Interactive has apologised for giving a streamer paid in-game content for free during a Dead by Daylight broadcast. The creator, TheBurntPeanut, received around US$300 worth of downloadable content (DLC, extra items sold separately from the base game).

The stream stirred controversy in the game's community. The studio's apology followed what appeared to be a collaboration with the streamer, a partnership in which a creator promotes or plays a game in return for perks or payment. IGN reported the apology on 2 November 2026.

The situation grew after the streamer offered to give the items back. A team member posting under the game's official DeadByDaylight account replied "WE CAN TAKE THE HEAT! THEY ARE YOURS TO KEEP," followed by a heart emoji. Video Games Chronicle reported the exchange on 3 November 2026.

Behaviour Interactive said the decision to give the creator in-game content was made without the appropriate approvals. It also said the team member's later comments and conduct do not align with the game's core values.

The studio said it normally reviews a new creator's past content for inclusion values before it works with them. In this case, it said, that review did not take place.

For players, the core question is who makes decisions about partnerships and rewards. The studio's statement points to a check that was skipped, and it names that gap as the reason the gift should not have been made.
