Little Dancer musical set for fully staged West End run in 2027

The musical Little Dancer will have its fully staged West End premiere in 2027, at Theatre Royal Haymarket. WhatsOnStage published the first listen to the show on 3 November 2026, with Julian Ovenden and Laura Pitt-Pulford performing material from it.
The story follows the young ballerina who posed for Edgar Degas' sculpture of a dancer. The book and lyrics are by Lynn Ahrens and the music is by Stephen Flaherty. The pair previously wrote Ragtime, Anastasia and Once on This Island.
Susan Stroman is directing and choreographing. She also directed the concert production of the show, which came before this staged version. A concert production is a performance with the music and singing but without sets or costumes.
The cast is led by Tiler Peck as Young Marie van Goethem, the girl at the centre of the story. Laura Pitt-Pulford plays Adult Marie. Julian Ovenden plays Edgar Degas, and Josefina Gabrielle plays Martine.
The production is scheduled to run at Theatre Royal Haymarket from 15 February to 27 March 2027. The theatre's press night, the first performance for critics, is set for 18 February 2027. According to Little Dancer's official website, the London run is six weeks only. It will be followed by a world tour.
Tickets at Theatre Royal Haymarket start from £25, according to the theatre's own listings.
The creative team includes set designer Beowulf Boritt, lighting designer Ken Billington, costume designer William Ivey Long, sound designer Kai Harada and casting director Jill Green. Doug Besterman and Larry Hochman are the orchestrators. Sam Davis is music supervisor and dance arranger.
The show is produced by Anita Waxman with Jana Shea, Patricia R Klausner, Sharon A Carr, Emily Blavatnik and Danny Cohen. Iwan Lewis is the UK executive producer. General management is by Short Street Productions Ltd.
For theatregoers, the detail to note is the dates. The London run is short and fixed, from mid-February to the end of March 2027. Tickets for a run of that length tend to go on sale well before the first night, so anyone planning to see it will want to check the theatre's listings closely.
