Blizzard Raises Class Damage and Shortens Penalties in WoW Forever Beta

Blizzard has raised damage for classes across World of Warcraft: Forever's beta and cut several penalties, according to development notes posted on its official forums on November 3, 2026. The post, titled "WoW Forever Beta Development Notes – Updated November 2", covers about two and a half weeks of work since the last full beta update on October 15.
A beta is a pre-release test version that players can try before a game launches. World of Warcraft: Forever goes live worldwide on November 4, Blizzard announced on October 29.
Over the past two weeks, Blizzard said, it raised damage for classes throughout the game. A class is a character type, such as a warrior or a mage. To keep fights balanced, it also increased the health of higher level creatures, the enemies players face.
Several smaller changes are also in the new build:
- The quitter debuff, a penalty for players who leave a group early, dropped to 40 seconds from 5 minutes. A debuff is a negative effect on a character.
- Stun duration fell to 2.5 seconds from 3 seconds. A stun leaves a target briefly unable to act.
- The Naturalist talent now raises all damage by 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 percent at each rank, up from 1 to 5 percent. Talents are optional abilities a player picks for a character.
- Intellect, a stat that boosts spellcasters, now grants 12 percent of its value as spell damage per stack, down from 15 percent.
- Throw now uses a fixed 0.5 second windup timer, rather than the throwing weapon's attack speed.
- Roots triggered by effects such as Frostbite, Entrapment, Improved Wing Clip, Counterattack and Improved Hamstring now have Diminishing Returns. That means each repeat of the effect works a little less well within a short window.
- Learning a new spell no longer places it automatically on action bars, the rows of buttons players use for their abilities.
Blizzard also says all races now start with correct base stats. Tauren Warriors begin with +5 strength compared with Human Warriors, where the gap had been +2. The same correction was applied to High Order and Windshaper Skyborne. The November 2 build also includes earlier updates to racial talents and to the cost of training class abilities.
For the weeks ahead, Blizzard said it does not plan large tuning changes before raids open next month. Raids are group challenges for large teams of players. Only bug fixes and serious outliers, meaning results that are far too strong or too weak, are expected before then.
Blizzard has also said that World of Warcraft: Forever will keep changing after launch through regular content patches and updates.
