Dior Hands Its Holiday Campaign to Animator Sylvain Chomet

Dior has given its 2026 holiday campaign to animation director Sylvain Chomet. The result is a hand-drawn short film called "Christian Dior's Night in Color," which the Paris fashion house will release on Wednesday across its online platforms, WWD reported.
The film draws on the friendship between Christian Dior, the house founder, and the film star Marlene Dietrich. Its plot turns on a decision to shoot in colour rather than black and white. Dior then designs a glittering bustier gown for Dietrich, inspired by a dress he made for her in 1949 called the Junon.
The voice cast is large. Robert Pattinson narrates. Louis Garrel voices Dior and Camille Cottin voices Dietrich. Rihanna voices The Lucky Star, a character the house describes as its emblem. Josh O'Connor, LaKeith Stanfield, Greta Lee, Nine d'Urso and Nadia Tereszkiewicz are also in the cast.
Chomet's team used hand-drawn animation, a method of drawing each frame by hand that dates back to the 1940s. Chomet is best known as the director of the animated feature "The Triplets of Belleville," and this film marks his work for Dior.
The project goes beyond the screen. Dior's collaboration with Chomet extends to a holiday gifting line of ready-to-wear clothing, accessories and homewares. Scenes and characters from the film will also appear in Dior store windows worldwide. Several holiday products on Dior's website, including a bag charm and a navy cap with a nutcracker motif, carry references to Chomet's work.
The film is Dior's second animation project this year. The first was a film for its Miss Dior fragrance, made with the French studio Remembers. That earlier film follows the fragrance, which Dior introduced in 1947, from its origins to the present day.
Animation is a format fashion houses have used more often in recent years, as brands look for ways to tell longer stories than a single photograph allows. Dior's two films this year follow that pattern, with one built around a perfume and the other around a founder and the film star who inspired him.
The film's release on Wednesday will show how the story and the products work together across Dior's channels.
