On Tuesday, 3 November 2026, the singer Tinashe used X to urge her followers to vote in the US midterm elections. Her post read "VOTE OR DIE ! LETS GO AMERICA" and ended with 12 blue heart emojis, according to Rolling Stone.

Blue is the colour most often linked with the Democratic Party in the United States, and Rolling Stone reported that the hearts were read as a sign of support for Democrats. The post drew a mixed reaction from people replying on the platform. Some agreed with her. Others did not.

One critic complained that the blue hearts were alienating her "red audience," a reference to the Republican Party's colour. Tinashe answered "Yall can go," followed by a peace sign emoji.

Another user wrote that voting was an illusion and that they wanted no part of it. She replied "Lame !!!!" A third user said Republican fans had spent money on her music and would never listen to her again. Her response was "I do not care."

Political posts are not new for her. In 2020, she appeared on Rolling Stone's Useful Idiots podcast, where she talked about her involvement in Black Lives Matter protests and during the Covid-19 pandemic.

For anyone who follows artists on social media, the exchange shows a common pattern. A short post about voting can draw praise, criticism and a flood of replies within hours. Each reply is public, so the argument is visible to anyone who opens the thread.

The replies were all posted on X, the social network formerly known as Twitter. Her post and the responses sit alongside thousands of other messages about the midterms that day, from musicians, athletes, actors and ordinary voters.
