Eric Dane's Posthumous Memoir Recalls Near-Fight With Josh Duhamel on "Las Vegas" Set

In his posthumous memoir, Eric Dane writes that he came close to fighting Josh Duhamel on the set of NBC's "Las Vegas" in 2004. The book, "My Book of Days: A Memoir in Moments," was published after Dane's death. Page Six had reported that its release was set for November 3.
"Las Vegas" ran on NBC for five seasons, from 2003 to 2008. Duhamel starred opposite James Caan. Dane guest-starred in two episodes during the show's second season in 2004.
According to Dane's account, the trouble began during a scene in which Duhamel's character grabs Dane's character by the tie. Dane had a herniated disc in his neck at the time. He asked Duhamel not to grab his tie because of the injury. Dane writes that Duhamel grabbed it anyway, on three takes in a row.
After the third take, Dane writes, he took off his suit coat, balled his hands into fists and challenged Duhamel to fight. He calls the moment a mistake. Entertainment Weekly reports that Dane says nobody called "Cut" as he came at Duhamel. In the memoir, Dane also uses a profane insult toward Duhamel, telling him to come on, and calling him a name that is not fit for print.
Dane's account ends on a more settled note. He writes that he and Duhamel have seen each other since the incident and are "cool." He apologises, saying he was wrong and should have walked away. Variety reported those details from the book on November 3.
The guest role came two years before a bigger break. Dane joined ABC's "Grey's Anatomy" in its second season as Dr. Mark Sloan, a role that brought him wide recognition. The show's ensemble of doctors became one of the longest-running medical dramas on American television.
The memoir is also an excerpt-friendly book. People published an adapted excerpt in October, several weeks before the full book reached shops and streaming platforms. Readers who want Dane's full version of the set can find it in the book itself.
For anyone who watched "Las Vegas" or "Grey's Anatomy," the story offers a rare, first-person look at what happened behind the cameras.
