BAFTA Names 21 Emerging Creatives to Its 2026 Breakthrough U.K. Cohort

BAFTA has named 21 emerging creatives to its 2026 Breakthrough U.K. cohort, drawn from film, television and games. The list was announced on Wednesday 4 November, Variety reported.
Among the 21 is actor Ella Bruccoleri, named for her work on The Other Bennet Sister. Breakthrough is BAFTA's scheme for people early in their careers, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts being the organisation behind the British Academy Film Awards. This year marks the scheme's 13th year.
Netflix is the official supporter of Breakthrough 2026, which is its seventh consecutive year backing the programme. Selected creatives get year-round career support, mentorship, networking opportunities and full BAFTA membership.
The mix of disciplines is the point of the scheme. Film, television and games often work in separate corners of the industry, with their own crews, agents and festivals. A single cohort puts people from all three in the same room, with the same support behind them.
The U.K. list is only half of the picture for the year. BAFTA North America is expected to announce its U.S. Breakthrough cohort later in November, which will bring a second group of emerging talent into the spotlight.
