Prime Minister Christopher Luxon boarded the National Party's campaign bus on Wednesday morning, 4 November, for the final push of the election campaign. RNZ reported that the trip is a three-day road journey from the Hutt Valley to Auckland.

The day began at 7:30am on the Petone foreshore. Luxon, Finance Minister Nicola Willis and Chris Bishop waved signs alongside a crowd of Young Nationals. Earlier, Luxon had dropped his nephews and their friends off at school in the Hutt with the bus, according to a post on his Facebook page.

After speaking to media in Petone, Luxon was scheduled to travel to Wairarapa and Hawke's Bay, as 1News reported.

At 11am he visited The Wool Shed in Masterton, where he partially sheared a sheep. He said the campaign needed "three more years" so that the job would not be left half done.

The day's itinerary included stops in The Hutt, Masterton, Dannevirke, Havelock North and Napier. After arriving on the bus, Luxon addressed a gathering of farmers and contractors, according to a video posted to his Facebook page.

Throughout the day, Luxon urged voters to stick to the plan. He told voters to avoid strategic voting, which is when people vote for a party other than their first choice to influence the result, and called it "malarkey". He said National could "finish the job".

RNZ political reporter Lauren Crimp travelled on the campaign bus and reported on Wednesday's events.
